I&E Bulletin 80-11, Masonry Wall Design By Reference (b), we informed you that we had embarked on a reanalysis program to address outstanding concerns with respect to masonry wall design at our facility. At that time, we stated that it was our intent to complete this program by March 1984 The purpose of this letter is to inforu you that we have completed the reanalysis of the ten walls in question; however, we will require additional time to verify our results. The preliminary results indicate that only a minor modification to one of the walls will be necessary to meet the criteria of I&E Bulletin 80-11.

In order to factor the reanalysis verification effort into the substantial engineering efforts associated with our upcoming refueling outage, we find it necessary to extend the schedule for completing our reanalysis program until-June 1984. At that time, we will provide you with the summary results of our program including a schedule for completing the modification discussed above, as well as any other necessary modifications identified as a result of our reanal-ysis verification effort.

We trust that our revised submittal date does nct unduly impact your staff review schedule. Your cooperation in this matter'is greatly appreciated.
