Northern States Power Company 414 Nicollet Mall Minneapolis. Minnesota 55401 Telephone (612) 330-5500 March I?, 1984 Richard C DeYoung Director Office of Inspection and Enforcement U S Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 M0?frICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLAffr Docket No. 50-263 License No. DPR-22 Response to IE Bulletin No. 83-07: Appa rently Fraudulent Products Sold by Ray Miller, Inc.

In response to IE Bulletin 83-07, the results of our review and investigation indicate that the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant has not been the recipient of fraudulent products sold by Ray Miller, Inc.

Upon reviewing IE Bulletin 83-07, and its supplements, it was found that three vendors, American Standard, Bendix and Permutit identified as recipients of fraudulent Ray Miller material, have supplied the Monticello plant with materials.

Investigation of our purchase orders with the three companies lead to the conclusion that the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant has not received any fraudulent products sold by Ray Miller, Inc.

Ray Miller, Inc is not, and has never been, on the NSP Approved Vendor List. Our purchasing department has checked their records for the past five years finding no indication that busicess was done with this firm.

As a result of the issuance of IE Bulletin 83-07, our receipt inspection personnel have been alerted to watch for material that might still be stocked on supplier's shelves.
