The following information is sutmitted in response to Inspection Report 50-321/83-32 and 50-366/83-34 special safety inspection conducted by Mr. J.
R. Wray.
DEVIATION:
NUREG 0737, Its II.F.1, Attachnent 3, "Contairment High-Range Radiation Monitor",
specifies in Tablo II.F.1-3 that in
- situ, electronic calibration is required for all range decades above 10 R/hr.
In situ calibration for at least one decade below 10 R/hr shall be by means of calibrated radiation source.
Furthermore, instrtuent linearity through all scales up to 1 E+6 R/hr must be assured by type testing at sufficient points.
Contrary to the above, on November 17, 1983, the two High-Range Primary Contairment (Drywell) Radiation Monitors for each unit were found not adequately calibrated by electronic signal substitution through each decade up to 1 E+7 R/hr; nor had linearity been assured through all scales up to lE+6 R/hr at sufficient test points.
RESPONSE
Corrective Actions Taken:
Procedure revisions addressing this iten have been drafted and are undergoing the review and approval process.
