Dear Sir:
i As an elected member of the Public Service Commission, I represent every citizen in Georgia, including those in the area of the Vogtle Nuclear Plant. Although the Public Service Commission does not regulate nuclear safety and has not intervened in Georgia Powei Company's application for an operating license for the project, we j
would be derelict in our duties if we did not closely monitor the I
proceedings. For this reason, we have directed Georgia Power to provide us with all written materials it provides to the Nuclear k
Regulatory Commission.
I Similarly, I hope that we can closely follow the hearings themselves t
if hearings are held on the application. For chis reason, I am writing to request that you conduct the hearings in Atlanta so that I, the other Public Service Commissioners and other state officials charged with representing our constituents'ino will be affected by this project will be afforded the opportunity to attend and monitor the proceedings.
Please feel free to call on me if I cau be of assistance to you in your deliberations.
Thank you for your consideration.
Yours truly, 8403130457 840307 Billy Lc vett PDR ADOCK 05000424 G
