  • 4 The Inspecte: shull grfcm a visual incMetion of th; cerd finish cor.t ed substrate surface in accordance with th?

following :

a) Rurts/ sags - Runs or sags in which the DFT of tha total coatin2 systen is 15.0 mils or less thick. ditch shour no evidence of cuderacking, are acceptable. Those great 6r than 15,0 :: tis shall be repaired in accordance with Refenance 1-B or 1 C. .

b) Skips / decagad areas / dry sprey/ over spray / gress di scontintF. ties such as holidays. Voids, and bubble.S .

are not acceptable.

c) Pinholes - accepte.ble to the extent allowed by 4 Attachment 2. -

d) Contan;ination - Labedded foreign materials unacceptable, ,

3.6.3 Dry Film Thickness (DFT) -

The Ins pector shall perfom a DFT of the cured coating system 1 5ee Hote 5). .A calibrated 0-25 Eleoneter Inspector DFT Gage Model III/IE, or ec.uivalent, shall be- - ---

used, 55aparate spot measurentnts (See tiote 1) spaced evenly cver the structure (See Note 2) shall be taken, Since.the magnetic sage is sensitive to ceometric discontinuities irt the steel, measurements less than 1 inch from an edge or a, hole shall be avoided where possible.

The average DFT of the total coating system shall .be . a .

mininin of 6.0 mils and a maximum of 13.0 mils. The spat -

test DFT of the total coating _ system shall be a minicam of

  • 6.0 rails and a maxiru:n of 15.0 mils (See Note 4), i The fini sh coated syste shall exhibit full
  • hiding" properties of the primecoat.

NOTE 1: A spot r:casurenent is a series of three measure-

.' nonts in the same general area. The probe should be noved a short distance for each gage reading.

Discard ony unusually high or low gage reading that canno.t A. a repeated consi stently. Take an '

avera92 of these three gage readings es. one spot '

measuronent. '
