Efforts to obtain data in response to your request for additional information dated February 17, 1984 have been delayed due to extremely long test duration times required to achieve endpoint data for the MSA GMR-I canister. This delay does not represent adverse test results, but instead indicates better performance of the canister thereby precipitating the delay. We propose reprioritizing this request for exemption to 10CFR20, Appendix A, footnote (C) to a six month review interval to allow completion of endpoint testing by the manufacturer.
Upon our receipt and review of this data, we propose a meeting with the NRC, HSA and Alabama Power Company representatives for presentation of the results and future test plans. Your prompt review and response to this application has been appreciated.
