The Ar tred For ces Radiobiolcoy Research Institute ( AFRRI) TRIGA reacte r f acility t eauests to aniend t he technical specifications f or license R-84 (Dochot S0170) with the changes derscribed in Attachment 1.

The basic technical specifications ( Arnendment 18) were approved by the NRC in 1984 as part of the reactor rclicensing. Since then, Auendaients 19,70, and 21 have been insued. These changes have resulted in the document containing several different type styles and sited. The document also contains a number of spelling errors. Some of these errors have existed since Amendment 18; others have been intrcduced in the various changes.

The dc>cument has been completely retyped to standardi7e the type style and page f orMt throughout and to correct all known tpelling errors. Also, sever al changes are requested to f acilitate conversion to the new 10 CFR 20.

These changes do not formally implement the new 10 CTR 70 however. The requested changes have been approved by a subcommittee of the AfRR1 Reactor A Radiation Facility Safety Committee.

We requeut thst the technical specifications be reissued in their entirety (Pages i-41) as described at Attachment 2.
