Attached are the Technical Specification changes required to support the startup of McGuiro Unit 2 Cyclo 8.
The changos prosented in this submittal are consintent. with the changes submitted for McGuiro Unit 1 Cycle 8, which were submitted by Duke for NRC review on Juno 26,1991 (Ref oros.co 1), and approved by the NRC on November 27, 1991 (Hoforenco 2).
Thoso changes reflucted the first use of Duke Power Company roload analysis methodologies, and resulted in differences in the Technical Specif1 cations between the two units.
Following approval of those Unit 2 Technical Specifications, the two units will onco again have a
single set of Technical Specifications for the two units.
Accordingly, the Technical Specification markups presented in Attachment I
reflect the applicab131ty of the previously-approved Unit 1 Specifications to both units; the changes and technical arguments supporting the changos are identical to the unit-specific changos made for Unit 1 Cycle 8 (with one exception), and may be found in Reference 1.
The lone exception is a set of proposed changes to Code Safety Valvo sotpoint tolerances, which woro includod in the Unit 1 Cyclo 8 submittal; those changes have boon doloted from this Unit 2 submittal.
A copy of this amendment request has boon provided to the State of North Carolina.
