50-260 50-296 BROWNS FERRY HUCLEAR FIANT (BFN) - UNITS 1, 2, AND 3 - NUCLEAR REGUIATORY COI1 MISSION (NRC) CONFIRMATORY EEASURES PROGRAM On December 2, 1991, TVA received, at BFN, an NRC confirmatory sample for strontiur.:-89 cad strontium-90 analysis.

The sample was damaged in transit; specifically, the plastic cap on the 250-milliliter sample bottle became loose. As a result, some of the sample spilled in the plastic enclosure bag. IVA has concluded that thin breach of the container constituted a breach of integrity of the aample. Accordingly.

TVA requests that a new sa.nple be submitted to TVA for analysis.

TVA made this request veri ally to Dan Jones of the Region II Staf f when it discovered the damaged sample.

TVA further requests that the new confirmatory sample, and subsequent samples, be addressed to:
