'IUA Tennessee Valley Authority Post Office Box 2000. Soddy-Datsy. Tennessee 37379 July 18, 1995 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN: Document Control Desk Washington, D.C. 20555 Gentlemen:

TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY - SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT UNIT 1 - DOCKET No. 50-327 - FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE DPR LICENSEE EVENT REPORT (LER) 50-327/95008 The enclosed LER provides details concerning an automatic reactor trip

)

that occurred as a result of a lo-lo steam generator level. During the process of establishing a clearance for a maintenance activity on a j

radiation monitor, an assistant unit operator opened the wrong breaker.

This resulted in a loss of power to Reactor Protection Set 1.

The loss of power to the protection set caused a reduction in feedwater flow, resulting in decreasing levels in the steam generators and a subsequent j

reactor trip. This event is being reported in accordance with i

10 CFR 50.73(a)(2)(iv) as an event that resulted in the automatic actuation of engineered safety features, including the reactor protection system.

Sincerely, h
