S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION i

Washington, D. C.

20555 Attention:

Mr. D. G. Eisenhut, Director Division of Licensing Gentlemen:

DOCKETS 50-266 AND 50-301 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIOd CHANGE REQUEST NO. 97 10 CFR 50.73 REPORTABILITY POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 Generic Letter No. 83-43 dated December 19, 1933 discussed the reporting requirements of Il CFR 50.73 which became effective on January 1, 1984.

Paragraph (g) of Section 50.73 specifically stated that the requirements contained in this section replace all existing requirements for reportable occurrences as defined in the individual licensee's Technical Specifications.

Generic Letter No. 43 requested licensees to propose changes to their Technical Specifications to reflect the revised reporting requirements.

Accordingly, Wisconsin Electric Power Company, licensee for the Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, hereby requests amendments to Facility Operating Licenses DPR-24 and DPR-27 to incorporate the attached changes into the Point Beach Technical Specifications.

As discussed in Generic Letter 83-43, the cttached changes are necessary to conform the Technical Specifications to the Commission's regulations and are made at the Commission's request.

Accordingly, no approval fee for the change is necessary.

Similarly, as discussed in 48 Federal Register 14870, changes to make a license conform to changes in the regulation are an example of amendments that are not likely to involve a significant hazards consideration.

Therefore, as required by 10 CFR 50.91(a) (1), we have determined that these changes should not involve any significant hazards consideration using the standards and criteria specified in 10 CFR 50.92.
