LETTER AUTHORIZATION FOR SHIPMENT OF THE MODEL NO. C-1 PACKAGE
Dear Mr. Schehr:
As requested by your letter dated March 6, 2020 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML20066L510) ISOFLEX Radioactive LLC (ISO-RAD or the applicant) and pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 71, the Certificate of Compliance (CoC) No. 9036 for the Model No. C-1 package is amended to authorize shipment of packages with name plates different than that shown in Source Production and Equipment Company, Inc., Drawing Nos. B322000, Rev. (3). The name plate on each package must be marked with the following information: model number, serial number, gross weight, and package identification number. All other conditions of CoC No. 9036 shall remain the same. This authorization expires on October 31, 2021.

ML20086H136 *via email OFFICE: NMSS/DFM NMSS/DFM NMSS/DSFM NAME: BWhite SFigueroa* JMcKirgan DATE: 03/25/2020 03/25/2020 03/26/2020 SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT Docket No. 71-9306 Model No. C-1 Certificate of Compliance No. 9306 EVALUATION By application dated March 6, 2020, ISOFLEX Radioactive LLC (ISO RAD), requested a letter authorization to Certificate of Compliance (CoC) No. 9036, for the Model No. C-1 transportation package. ISO-RAD requested that authorization of a different name plate than that show in Source Production and Equipment Company (SPEC), Inc., Drawing Nos. B322000, Rev. 3, since the packages owned by ISO-RAD do not have the SPECs name and address on the name plates.
Since the nameplate requirements are not required by Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, 71.31, Contents of Application, for submittal as part of the application for approval, the staff has determined that changing the nameplate will not affect the ability of the package to meet the requirements in 10 CFR Part 71.
CONDITIONS The authorization has been conditioned to:
- 1. require that the name plate on each package be marked with the following information:
model number, serial number, gross weight, and package identification number, and
- 2. expire on October 31, 2021.
CONCLUSION Based on the statements contained in the application, and the conditions listed above, the staff concludes that the changes indicated do not affect the ability of the package to meet the requirements of 10 CFR Part 71.
