Docket No. 50-275 Unit 1, Diablo Canyon' Site Gentlemen:
Your letter dated June 20, 1972, requested that all valves I
in the reactor coolant boundary be checked for adequate wall thickness.
Our letter dated March 28, 1974, reported the results of a valve wall thickness measurement program for Diablo Canyon Unit #1, and left 6 valves unresolved.
Valve 1-PCV-455B, one of the unresolved 4RA58RGA valves listed in our letter to you of March *28, 1974, was returned to the manufacturer for body replacement.
We have been notified by the NSSS supplier that since no satisfactory replacement valve E
bodies of this type were available, the valve manufacturer has repaired the valve body using procedures previously approved for other similar valve repairs.
The repaired valve has been shipped to.the site.
Four copies of the repair procedures and documentation package for Valve 1-PCV-455B are attached for your review.
This in-i cludes the Westinghouse Quality Release Supplement for the
=
repaired valve.
The valve will be held at the site until you have completed your review of the repair procedure.
The remaining valves will be discussed in subsequent corresondence.
