In response to the subject generic letter, the Supply System submits copies of the report titled:
Response to NRC Letter 81-21 [ Natural Circulation Cooldown Task 3A] for Tennessee Valley Authority and Washington Public Power Supply System, Report No. BAW-1472, Rev. 1, August 1983.
While the report is noted as Rev. 1, the NRC has not been issued an earlier revision of the report.
The report discusses the intermittent bleeding of reactor coolant through the reactor vessel head vents during natural circulation cooldown to achieve rapid head heat removal.
While this is our intention for WNP-1, we will follow the NRC review of proposals made by other.B&W plant owners to provide continuous head venting to the top of the hot leg or the steam generator upper plenum.
We will provide the information for Section 4 on operator training and procedure i
development after the restart of construction activities on WNP-1.
