Dear Mr. Rusche:
Subject:
TU!NESSPE VALLEY AUTHORITY - BRO' INS FERRY NUCLEAIt PLANT UNIT 1 - DOC:C?T NO. 50-259 - FACILITY OPERATTNG LICEISE DPR ABUORMAL OCCURRr:CE REPORT 3FAO-50-259/753W (Af02TDM!];T TO FOLLO'.TJP REPORT)
InthefollowupreporttoabnormaloccurrenceBFAO-50-259/753W cubtitted with my letter of 1:ay 16,1975, a ctatement was made that we would like to clarify. Chan;;c the last two centenecc under the Denirnntion of Anparent Cause of Occurrence to read:
Alco, the characteristics of the pilot valve show that the pilot centing force is a minirum in the range 750 to 900 pnig; and logically, when the len': age is cufficient to cause a precsure buildup in the second-stage piston chember, thic unbalances the pilot valve and forces it open. We are unable to determine the rencon for the initiation of the pilot leakage nor can we determine the length of time the pilot valve vac leaking.
y We hope this clarifien what we think may be occurring to cause pre-nature blowdown.
Very truly yours, TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY
