Dear Mr. Potapovs:
During my visit to the Comanche Peak Steam Elertric Station on May 21, 1983, I was informed of a potential 10 CFR 21 reportable matter associated with the component cooling water system.
It has been reported to me that this matter relates to the seismic classification of certain equipment and inter-connecting instrumentation lines that are included as part of this system.
Although the details of this subject have yet to be investigated by Gibbs & Hill, I am advising you at this time in view of my position as the responsible officer of Gibbs & Hill regarding 10 CFR 21.
The Gibbs & Hill staff is currently undertaking an investigation in accordance with our written generic 10 CFR 21 procedures previously approved by the NRC, and I will advise you of the results of these findings as soon as our evaluation has been completed.
