Auxiliarv h edwater Pump Automatic Start This letter is provided to confirm that the ATWS Mitigsting System Actuation Circuitry system (AMSAC) associated with a Prairie Island unit will automatically start all of that unit's auxiliary feedwater pumps in response to a loss of feedwater event. This information was requested by the NRC Project Manager for Prairie Island to resolve an NRC Staff concern related to the number of auxiliary feedwater pumps that receive an automatic start signal following a loss of feedwater transient.

Further information on the design details of the ATWS Mitigating System Actuation Circuitry system can be found in Section 7.11 of the Praf le Island Updated Safety Analysis Report.

Please contact us if you have any further questions related to the response of the Prairie Island auxiliary feedvater pumps to a loss of feedwater transient.
