Dear Mr. Denton:
Recent review of the LaSalle A-Model for Atmospheric Effluent and Diffusion has indicated the system will not operate as designed.
Reference (c) reported the LaSalle A-Model completed.
Information indicates the A-Model process computer program does not receive sufficient detector status information from the Main Stack Wide Range Gas Monitor to automatically initiate Emergency Action Level (EAL) messages because design of the radiation monitor causes a low level electronic output to be sensed by the process computer once the low range channel has entered the purge mode or otherwise failed.
Manual procedures to interpret high-level effluent monitors, make dose projections, and define recommended initial protective actions are already in place at the station.
Once the Technical l
Support Center is activated, the C-Model is available to make more refined offsite dose projections.
We anticipate completion of corrective action in two phases.
Phase One:
Define all program deficiencies and develop solutions by June 1, 1984.
Phase Two:
Implement corrective action.
This date will depend on availability of any required qualified hardware.
