The Unit entered the reporting period operating at 100% power and remained in service for the entire period. There were seven minor load reductions, but none of them to less than 95% power.

Total electrical generation was 839,930 MWH.

Summary:

3/2/83 Engineered Safety Feature Fan 2-HV-AES-2 was inoperable for a 44-1/3 hour period starting at 1647 hours0.0191 days
0.458 hours
0.00272 weeks
6.266835e-4 months
to replace the drive motor due to a failed motor bearing.

3/3/83 Unit power reduction was initiated at 1805 hours0.0209 days
0.501 hours
0.00298 weeks
6.868025e-4 months
due to a "Hi Coil Temperature" alarm on Phase 3 of the Main Transformer.

Unit power was held at 98 % while the alarm was checked for validity. It was determined that the alarm setpoint had drifteri.

The setpoint was adjusted and the Unit returned to 100% power.

Total time below 100% was 3 hours3.472222e-5 days
8.333333e-4 hours
4.960317e-6 weeks
1.1415e-6 months
.

3/4/83 Turbine Stop Valve "A", Train "A", valve closed indicating-switch to the Reactor Protection System was replaced during a 3-2/3 hour period. The Protection Channel was in trip during the switch replacement.

3/5/83 Unit power was reduced to 95% for testing of turbine valves.

Total time below 100% was 3-3/4 hours.

3/11/83 The Unit 2 Diesel Fire Pump was inoperable for a 7h hour period to replace a broken bolt on the Generator.

! Unit power was reduced to 95% for testing of turbine valves.

-l Total time below 100% was 5-3/4 hours.

3/17/83 The Detector Tube of Radiation Monitor R-25 failed at 1505 hours0.0174 days
0.418 hours
0.00249 weeks
5.726525e-4 months
.

The Tube was renewed and the monitor returned to service at 0907 hours0.0105 days
0.252 hours
0.0015 weeks
3.451135e-4 months
March 24, 1983.

3/19/83 Unit power was reduced -to 95% for testing of turbine valves.

Total time below 100% was 4h hours.

Later this same day Unit power was again reduced to 95% for replacement and testing of one of the closed indicating switchs of Turbine Stop Valve "C" that had malfunctioned during the previous valve test. Total time below 100% was 2 hours2.314815e-5 days
5.555556e-4 hours
3.306878e-6 weeks
7.61e-7 months
.

, UNIT NAME D. C. Cook - Unit No. 2 DATE 4-12-83 COMPLETED BY B. A. Svensson TELEPHONE (616) 465-5901 PAGE 1 of 1 MAJOR SAFETY-RELATED MAINTENANCE MARCH, 1983 M-1 The control cable to IMO-256, boron injection tank inlet valve, was found to have damaged insulation. Replaced the cable.

M-2 Engineered safety features ventilation fan, HV-AES-2, was re-moved from service due to failure of the inboard motor bearing, causing the motor to overheat. The motor was replaced and the unit tested.

M-3 No. 4 boric acid transfer pump was leaking from pump flanges and seal water lines. Replaced the pump.

C&I-l Surveillance testing of reactor logic trains A and B revealed a problem with train B "High Rate Flux Trip", position 13 on switch D. The problem was localized in universal circuit card A212. After replacing the defective card, surveillance test STP.145 was satisfactorily completed on the solid state pro-tection system train B.

C&I-2 The containment fire detection system 12-volt power supply was repaired by the installation of a new transformer. The system was tested for proper operation.

C&I-3 Main steam power operated relief valve, MRV-243, had control air leaks at the valve. positioner and at the booster relays.

Both positioner and boosters were disassembled, repaired, and reinstalled. The positioner was' adjusted for proper valve operation.
