10NDITIONS PRIOR TO OCCURPENCE Prior to thin ti::c, the reactor was at power and producing 680 1510. Testing of LPCI valves was in progress to fulfill a requirement for an upcoming diccel generator outage.
DESCRIPTION OF_OCCURRENQ
'On July 22,.1974 a close cignal van supplied to_ valve 3-1501-5A.
It came off its open seat then bound up and stopped.. The valve was then opened fully and a work request was submitted to inspect and repair it.

O au1x29.1m Mr. J. F. 'O'L2 cry DESTCNATIO!! 0F APPAREITT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE Upon inspection of valve 3-1501-5A it was fcund that the disc had overtraveled in the open direction and became cocked in the valve guides.-
ANALYSIS OF_ OCCURRENCE Since the valve is required to be in the open position for LPCI operability, 'at no time was the plant or public ' health and safety compromised in any way.
CORRECTIVE ACTIO3 1
The valve disc and operator were realigned in the valve guides and the valve checked for free operation. To prevent a repetition of this s
occurrence, the valve stroke was adjusted per vendor manual and overtravel is no longer possible.
