DE'STCt!ATION OF APPARE!TT CAUSE OF FAIT.URE -

Component Failure Upon checking the breaker, it was found that the contactors were out of adjustment.

ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE There were no safety consequences to the public or plant personnel as a result of this occurrence becausa llPCI was never needed. Also, the backup system, auto blowdown, was always operable.

CORPICTIVE ACTION The contactors on the breaker were adjusted and the breaker cperated saticfactorily.

. There in a program to check these breakers on a periodic basia, but this breaker had not been inspected yet.

FAILURE DATA Tlila type vi ineoiet h.su iu d s lu il u failures in t.iie past. 'Ahnt is why the periodic inspaction progran was initiated. This inspection pro, gram should help to olhainate this type of failure.
