Pursuant to the request of the NRC Resident Inspector at the Donald l
C. Cook Nuclear Plant on March 19, 1984, we are providing the following i
response to IE Bulletin 83-05, dated May 19, 1983. Based on the results I
of our review pursuant to the conditions of the Bulletin, we interpreted the Bulletin to not require a response. Therefore, this letter should not be interpreted to mean that we have failed to comply with the Bulletin.
The conditions of the Bulletin were (1) if we use or plan to use ASME Code pumps important to safety manufactured by Hayward Tyler Pump Company (HTPC), or (2) if we use or plan to use spare parts manufactured by HTPC in Code pumps important to safety, then we were to take certain actions and submit a report describing the results of the actions taken or planned within 90 days.
Based on our review which was concluded by May 26, 1983, there are no HTPC pumps at the D. C. Cook Plant nor is HTPC listed on our qualified supplier's list.
In addition, a review concluded that there are no safety grade HTPC spare parts at the D. C. Cook Plant.
