Dear Mr. Skovholt:
This letter is to confirm Mr. Harlan K. Hoyt's telephone conversation with you on September 18, 1972, concerning the torus vacuum breakers on Quad-Cities Units 1 and 2.
The lever arm modification, which will improve the torus N,
vacuum breaker operation, is in progress on Unit 2 at the present time.
Unit 2 is currently out of service for repairs to the jet pumps.
Unit 2 will not be returned to service until the vacuum breaker lever arm modification is complete.
Current plans for Quad-Cities Unit 1 call for the lever arm modification to be installed between October 8 and October 15, 1972.
This schedule is dictated by the return to service of Quad-Cities Unit 2 as mentioned above and Joliet Unit 8.
Joliet Unit 8, a 600 Mw fossil fueled unit, suffered the loss of its main trans-former last week.
Should any change in these plans be required, we will contact you immediately.
