GOVT l-1 (NRC)

Dear Mr. Schwencer:

The reference 1 letter informed you of our plans for l

having an independent design verification program (IDVP)

~

performed for Limerick.

This letter is being written to provide an update on our IDVP plans.

1 The reference 1 letter informed you of our decision to retain Cygna Energy Services to perform the Limerick IDVP.

Cygna has subsequently informed us of their decision to withdraw from this assignment.

We have therefore selected Torrey Pines Technology to perform the IDVP for Limerick.

Torrey Pines has substantial i

significant experience in performing IDVP's and other reviews for nuclear power plant projects.

The reference 2 telecon discussed information which should be included in the program plan.

He plan to have the i

program plan ready for presentation to the NRC staff on Wednesday, May 9,

1984.

As discussed in the reference 2 telecon, work on the IDVP will not begin until we receive written concurrence with the program plan from the NRC.
