TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY CH ATTANOOGA. TENNESSEE 37401 400 Chestnut Street Tower II 84 APR 3 A10 : 33 March 30, 1984 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region II ATTN: James P. O'Reilly, Regional Administrator 101 Marietta Street, NW, Suite 2900 Atlanta, Georgia 30303

Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

Please refer to my letter to you dated December 9, 1983 which transmitted our response to Inspection Report 50-259/83-38,

-260/83-38, and -296/83-38 for our Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant. In our response to Violation B, we indicated in Item 3 a follow-up report would be submitted by April 1, 1984. In accordance with that commitment, we have evaluated our method for incorporating CFR changes into corporate-level and plant-level procedures. Based on-that evaluation we will issue a division policy regarding this subject by September 1, 1984. In the interim, appropriate plant and corporate personnel have been instructed to ensure that CFR material is handled in an expeditious and correct manner. If you have any questions, please call Jim Domer at FTS 858-2725.

To the best of my knowledge, I declare the statements contained herein are complete and true.

Very truly yours, TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY a

L. M. Mills, Manager Nuclear Licensing
