A.
CONDITIONS PRIOR TO OCCURRENCE Unit No. 3 was in steady state power operation at 100% rated power.
No special evolutions were in progress.

DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE At about 8:10 A.M. on May 22, 1975, during a normal shifting of operating intake cooling water pumps, the 3A pump failed to start.
C.
DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE The 3A intake cooling water pump breaker failed to remain closed.
The cause of the breaker malfunction has not yet been determined.
D.
ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE The 3A intake cooling water pump was out of service for approximately two hours.
The remaining two intake cooling water pumps were operable during this time period.
The Turkey Point Units No. 3 and 4 Technical Specifications permit one intake cooling water pump to be out of service for a period of 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> during power operation.
Section 9.6.3 of the FSAR states that one intake cooling water pump is required following a maximum hypothetical accident, therefore, the health and safety of the public was not adversely affected during this occurrence.
