Subject:

Quad Cities Station Unit 1 Withdrawal of our Request for Waiver Containnent Integrated Leak Rate Test (CILRT)

NRC Docket No. 50-254 Reference (a):

B. Rybak letter to H. R. Denton dated December 13, 1983.

Dear Mr. Denton:

By the referenced letter, Commonwealth Edison had requested a waiver from the requirement to perform a Type A (Integrated Leak Rate Test) for Quad Cities Unit 1.

After some discussion with your staff on our alternative corrective action plan we have decided to withdraw our waiver request.

We feel that the corrective action plan, modified to include the Staff's input, would be more burdensome than the performance of the Type A test.

Therefore, we intend to perform only the Type A test at the end of the current refueling outage.

If there are any further questions regarding this matter, please contact this office.

One signed original and forty (40) copies of this letter are provided for your use.

Very truly yours, d,/
