Inspection of Ilydraulic Shock Absorbers (Snubbers)

Dear Mr. Coller:
In accordance with Mr. Skovholt's letter of October 1,1973, con-cerning periodic inspection of hydraulic shock absorbers (snubbers), an inspection of all snubbers both inside and outside of containment was completed on July 7,1976.
All snubbers were considered operable at this inspection. A small amount of fluid was added to one non-safety related Bergen-Paterson unit outside of containment.
On July 22, 1976 an inspection of all snubbers outside of contain-ment was completed. All units were considered operable. Pluid was added to the same non-safety related unit as during the previous inspection.
Icakage was observed at the shaft seal. This unit will be kept under more frequent surveillance and will be replaced at the next convenient opportunity.
