SUBJECT:

Beaver Valley Power Station - Unit No. 2 Do cke t No. 50-412 Projected Fuel Load Schedule Gentlemen:

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Forecast Panel visited the Beaver Valley Power S t ation Unit 2 (BVPS-2) site in January 19 83 and concurred with Duquesne Light Company (DLC) that the plant cons truct ion s uppo rt ed a proj ected fue l load date of December 31,, 1985.

In the docke t ing letter issued to "?PS-2 on May 17, 19 83, it was reques ted that the NRC staf f be informed of any change of that projected fuel load date.

Recent DLC fo recas t s show the proj ect ed fuel load date may be extended out to May, 1986.

This increased fo recas t is based on nonnal c ons truct ion work shifts and ot her s tandard construction advancement processes.

However, DLC management is evaluating several possible act ions which would accelerate the overall construction progress and could advance the projected fuel load schedule.

Thus, the licensing schedule established fo r BVPS-2 should not be alt ered because the pot ent ial delay does not include any planned recovery actions nor -the pos sible implementation of a recovery plan.

The BVPS-2 project is continuing unabated with all of the pr esent licensing activities planned for BVPS-2 and it is understood that DLC will continue to have the NRC's full support for the licens ing program as currently scheduled for BVPS-2.

This transmittal does not modify any previous DLC licensing commitments issued to the NRC.

DLC will continue to keep the NRC staf f advised of pot ent ial schedule changes and will provide notification of any actual change to the BVPS-2 project fuel load forecast.
