Docket Nos. 50-25.7 Tennessee Valley Authority
)
50-260 50-296 BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BFN) - UPDATED FINAL SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORT (UFSAR), AMENDMENT 12 TVA has revised the frequency for submitting BFN UFSAn updates.
The purpose of this letter is to inform NRC of the new frequency.
Additionally, TVA has enclosed Amendment 12 in accordance with the revised frequency.
TVA has submitted BFN UFSAR updates to NRC annually in accordance with 10 CFR 50.71(e).
TVA submitted BFN's last UFSAR update (Amendment 11) on July 21, 1994.
TVA has chosen to change the reporting frequency of BFN UFSAR updates from I
once per year to once per refueling cycle, in response to the 10 CFR 50.71(e) (4) change, which became effective October 1, 1992.
This reporting schedule will remain consistent with the rule change for not exceeding the 24-month interval between successive UFSAR updates.
Amendment 12 reflects changes to the site that occurred between January 20, 1994 (the cutoff date for Amendment 11),
and November 21, 1994 (the end of the Unit 2 refueling outage), with one exception.
Specifically, by letter dated May 20, 1994, NRC requested that TVA add the Anticipated Transients Without scram (ATWS) information.
In TVA's September 30, 1994, response to that letter, TVA stated that the ATWS addition was considered to be an enhancement to the UFSAR.
Accordingly, included in Amendment 12 is the requested ATWS information.
