VIRillL C. SUMMER NUCLEAR STATION DOCKET NO. 50/395 OPERATING LICENSE NO. NPF-12 SPECIAL REPORT (SPR 910005) (ON0 910053)
This Special Report is beirg submitted by South Carolina Electric & Cas Company pursuant to the requirements of Technical Specification 3.3.3,
" Radiation Monitoring instruaientStion." On August 28, 1991, the Main Plant Vent High Range Process Monitor, RMA-13, was declared inoperable due to spiking of the monitor.
Extensive troubleshooting was performed on the monitor, a detector assembly and readout module were replaced and bench tested satisfactorily. The unit was reinstalled and declared operable on September 3, 1991.
On September 5, 1991, the unit was again declared inoperable due to soiking.
Systems Engineering is presently assisting in the troubleshooting of the unit. A supplement report will be submitted when the problem is corrected detailing the deficiency a7d corrective act',0n taken.
A preplanned alternate method of monitoring hos been initiated as required by the Tecnnical Specification.
