C0 HANCE PEAK STEAH ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES)~ UNIT 2 00CKET NO. 50-446 CORRODED HILTI BOLTS SDAR CP-91 003 (INTERIM REPORT)

On June 11, 1W 1 TU Electric orally notified the NRC of a deficiency involving the corrosion of installed Hilti Kwik Bolts (HKB). This condition was identified when an HKB on a floor mounted pipe support broke during retorquing.
Examination of the broken bolt identified a significant reauction in cross sectional area due to corrosion. This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). Our last interim report on this issue was logged TXX-91246 dated July 10, 1991.
We are continuing our evulua'*3n of this issue in accordance with our Procedure 2IH-5.24 " Selection, Inspection and Evcluation of Hilti Anchors in Potentially Flooded Areas in Unit 2".
The next report on this issue will be provided by December 16, 1991.
