Virgil C.l Summer: Nuclear Station, Unit.No. 1, continued power Joperationiduring the month.of October 1983 L0n' October 20, 1983, at'0905 hours0.0105 days
0.251 hours
0.0015 weeks
3.443525e-4 months
, the Plant was manually tripped-from approximately-90% power following the loss.of.all

-Circulating Water Pumps._ The pumps had tripped. automatically.

when'one of the flood protection level switches-was accidently.

shorted'by plant _ personnel.

The-2/3. logic for flood protection wasLcompleted bytthis short since-the' supply breaker.for the s

redundant switches.was incorrectly.:in the "0FF" position.

The cause is attributed to' personnel error. ~ Plant performance during

the eventJwas asfexpected.with no' events of~ safety significance.

On= October.22,-1983,:atL1053 hours,-the plant'was manually L

tripped from approximately 77% power..The trip was initiated whenithe; Shift Supervisor determined that an oil leak in the EHC System piping was high enough to preclude. running the plant back in a controlled. manner.

Plant response to the transient was normal

_and the source offthe= leak subsequently repaired.

~
