Schedule for Updating the Inservice i
Testing Program for the Second Ten Year Interval Gentlemen:
1 The purpose of this letter is to provide a schedule for updating the Inservice Testing (IST) program for the second ten year interval at Wolf Creek Generating Station (WCGS). The second ten year interval is scheduled to begin on September 4,
1995.
The WCGS IST program is required by 10 CFR 50 55a(f) (5) (i) to be updated from the current requirements of ASME
]
Seceion R, 1980 Edition through the Winter 1981 Addenda, to the requirements i
of ASME Section XI, 1989 Edition by September '4, 1935.
Previously, approval was obtained from the NRC to adopt the requirements of ASME Section XI, 1989 Edition (OMa-1988, Part 10) for testing of valves, except for safety and relief valves, prior to the scheduled update of the IST program for the second ten year interval.
Code Case N-465, which is listed in Regulatory Guide 1.147,
" Inservice inspection Code Case Acceptability - ASME Section XI Division I,"
Revision 11, allows St3section IWP of ASME Section XI, 1989 Edition (OMa-1987, Part 6) to be utilized for pump testing in lieu of Subsection IWP of ASME Section XI, 1980 Edition.
This code case has been incorporated into the IST program and the applicable pump testing procedures are currently being upgraded and performed in accordance with the requirements of Subsection IWP of ASME Section XI, 1989 Edition (OMa-1987, Part 6).
All IST procedures will be revised by September 3, 1995, to incorporate the requirements of ASME Section XI, i m Edition, for the testing of pumps and valves.
The revised IST program for WCGS will be submitted by September 3, 1995.
This revised program will incorpor te the requirements of ASME Section XI, 1989 Edition, for the testing of pumps and valves.
