Docket No. 50-482 Gentlemen:

On December 5, I called Chairman Wolfe to report the results of the settlement meeting in Kansas City on December 5.

I did so at the request of the other parties.

I advised Chairman Wolfe about what took place at the meeting.

He asked me to write this letter summarizing the meeting and to obtair, the concurrence of the parties as to the contents of this letter.

The undersigned has reviewed this letter with the counsel for the parties in this matter, and they agree.with the statements made in the letter.

The meeting was held at the regional office of FEMA, and the persons in attendance were John Simpson, Jay Silberg, Delissa Ridgway, Brian P. Cassidy, Myron Karman, Leon H.

Mannell (Kansas Department of Emergency Preparedness),

Richard Terrill (Attorney for Kansas Gas and Electric Company), Ray Lewis (Kansas Gas and Electric Company), Bob

'llagan (Kansas Gas and Electric Company), Marlee Carroll (FEMA, Region 7), and Frank Begley (FEMA, Region 7).

The counsel for the parties discussed a list of 67 contentions that the Intervenors were considering having dismissed.

The parties have signed a Voluntary Agreement to Dismiss Contentions which dismisses those contentions, and this has been filed with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

The parties also discussed settlement of contentions that were not dismissed but were not able to come to any agreement on settlement of those contentions.

The parties will advise the Board about the results of any further settlement discussions.
