Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
This special report is being submitted in accordance with Technical Specification 3.3.3.1 action statenent 27A.
At 1750 on 11-14-83, radiation monitor R-60B (Main Steam Relief and Atmospheric Steam Dump Discharge) was declared inoperable due to erratic indication.
It is believed that this failure is due to a detector or con-nector problem. The cause cannot be determined positively due to inacces-sibility of the suspected problem areas in Modes 1 through 4.
Should an event occur which requires the monitoring capability of R-608, an alter-nate method, as required by Technical Specification 3.3.3.1 action state-ment 27A, will be implemented in accordance with established plant proce-dures. This monitor is scheduled to be repaired during the next outage of sufficient duration.
