-for renewal of the New Jersey Pollutant Discharge Elimination-System (NJPDES) Permit No. NJ0025411, is submitted pursuant to the requirements of subsection 3.2 of the liope Creek Generating Station Environmental Protection Plan (EPP), Non-Radiological (Appendix B to Facility-Operating License).
The renewal application for the NJPDES Permit was submitted in accordance with New Jersey Administrative Code, Section 7:14A-2.1(g)5 on March 30, 1990.

HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION RENEWAL APPLICATION SUPPLEMENT NJPDES PERMIT NO. NJ0025411 In support of the Hope Creek Generating Station NJPDES Permit renewal application submitted on March 30, 1990, Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G) is hereby submitting additional information which provides greater detail on facility operations and discharges.
Please insert these pages into the Hope Creek Generating Station Permit Renewal binder, discarding the old pages.
The following information is included:
a)
A request to withdraw the application filed June 5, 1989, in support of the request to " revoke and reissue" the Hope Creek NJPDES Permit.
This application was originally filed in support of a request to modify permit limitations based on facility operating experience.
Since the original NJPDES permit had been issued prior to the facility becoming operational, all permit limitations were determined based on engineering design calculations.
The June 5, 1989 application was filed to modify the permit limitations based on plant operating data.
This issue was partially resolved through a minor permit modification received September 1989, and the issuance of an Administrative Consent neder in January 1990.
Pollutant data and system descriptions submitted with the June 5, 1989 permit application were resubmittod with the March 30, 1990 application, and therefore, the June 1989 application is withdrawn.
b)
Form WQM-001 has been revised to delete the reference to the site's BMP Plan and to include the disposal of cooling tower basin sediments as dredge spoils.
The permittee also requests an addition to Part IV-B/C of the permit which addresses disposal requirements of the cooling tower basin sediments.
Draft language for the requested addition is included in this supplement.

Section II.B.3.a of Form 2C has been modified to include greater detail as to the operations, system influents, and treatuents provided at each outfall.

Additional pollutant data has been included in Section V of i
Form 2C for outfalls DSN 461A, 462A, 462B, 463A, and 464.
In addition, background pollutant data from the Delaware River has been included as intake values for several of the outfalls which are tidally influenced.
Where applicable, notes explaining the additional pollutant data or changes to i
the March 1990 application are included.
e)
A supplemental list of potential pollutants, other than those listed on Form 2C, has been included for all 7
applicable outfalls.
These pollutants are chemicals used on site in the operation or maintenance of the plant systems which could potentially be discharged through a regulated outfall due to a spill or other accidental release.
These pollutants are not expected to be detected at any of the I
outfalls.
f)
Revised schematics of the North and South Yard Storm Drains, DSNs 462A and 463A, are provided.
The modified schematics indicate the presenco of additional catch basins for the collection of stormwater runoff.
i The information supplied in this application supplement is in addition to the pollutant and flow data supplied monthly in the Discharge Monitoring Reports.
