At 0730 on 10/18/83 the Hays Gas Analyzer was removed from service to perform a required quarterly calibration.
The waste gas system vent header was not sampled for 6.5 hours5.787037e-5 days <br />0.00139 hours <br />8.267196e-6 weeks <br />1.9025e-6 months <br /> which violates the 4 hour4.62963e-5 days <br />0.00111 hours <br />6.613757e-6 weeks <br />1.522e-6 months <br /> time limit of Technical Speci-I fication 3.21.2.
This event is considered prompt reportable under Technical Specification 6.9.2.A.2.
Although reportable, there was no threat to the health and safety of the public since hydrogen concentration in the vent header was monitored with f
a redundant monitor and did not exceed 0.57..
With this low level of hydrogen, potentially high oxygen concentrations do not present a safety hazard.
Investigation of the cause for this incident and the corrective actions to prevent recurrence will be described in the followup report.
