Subject:
Final Report of 10CFR50.55(e) Item on control of Design Change Packages (#90)
Dear Mr. Keppler:
This is Detroit Edison's final report involving the control of Design Change Packages. This item was originally reported to Mr. J. Konklin of NRC Region III by Detroit Edison's Mr. G.M. Trahey, Assistant Dir-ector - Project Quality Assurance on March 14, 1983.
An audit perfonned by Construction Quality Assurance (CCA) identified a practice which could have resulted in uncontrolled portions of a Design Change Package (DCP) existing in the field. The practice of stamping only the cover sheet and index sheet of the package made it difficult to assure that changes in the DCP were posted in field copies.
All DCPs, which were not stamped on every page, were recalled by Document Control. These DCPs were then reissued to applicable reci-pients with all pages stamped. A follow-up surveillance was con-ducted by COA and the results were satisfactory.
If you have questions concerning this matter, please contact Mr. G.M.
Trahey, Assistant Director - Project Quality Assurance.
Very truly yours, t
