Heidi Price 18 Saverys Avenue Plymouth, MA 02360 Ju)v 3, 1991 Samuel Chilk, Secretary United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C.
20555
Dear Mr. Chi 3*:
)
I write to you today to petition the Commissioners to hold a hearing to determine the issues concerning emergency preparedness in the Pilgrim I Emergency Planning Zone.
It has come to my attention that several aspects of emergeng planning are not addressed in the current plans.
The feasibility of egress (especially via Route 44) is questionable, and it i s clear that the logic determining such feasibility is flawed.
The bussing plans, numbers of busses and drivers for school children in all the towns within the EPZ are sorely inadequate.
The Wellesley Reception Center, even by NRC's own low standards, is deficient and unacceptable.
Potassium Iodide is not available to residents and school children who may be stranded within the EPZ due to f3aved time estimates and questionable feasibility of egress.
These issues are but few of the many that need to be addressed immediately.
The NRC, utider regulation 10CFR5047S2, is responsible to set the 120 day time limit now, on this very day, to insure that Pilgrim Station's emergency planning will be put in place in a timely abide by REG 10CFR5047S2.
manner.
I implore the Commissioners
.s Thank you for your prompt and thorough attention to ticse critical matters.
I look forward to your assurance that these issues will be addressed to the satisfaction of those of us within the EPZ.
Very Truly Yours, Q
