r JOSEPH M. FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT UNIT 1 NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

OF OPERATIONS June 1991 There vas one unit shutdovn and one major power reduction during the month of June.

On June 2, power was reduced to approximately 20 percent to allow a containment entry to recalibrate three steam generator steam flow instruments. The instruments had been calibrated incorrectly during the recent refueling outage.

The unit returned to full power operation on June 4.

At 2045 on June 29, the reactor tripped due to a turbine / generator trip. The generator tripped due to lov side neutral overcurrent on unit auxiliary transformer IB.

The cause is still under investigation. The unit remained off-line through the end of the month.

The following major safety-related maintenance was performed during the month:

1.

The transformer was replaced on the 1A inverter.

2.

Annual maintenance was performed on the 1-2A diesel generator.

3.

Miscellaneous corrective and preventive maintenance vas perforr'd on the other diesel generators.
