Dear Dr. Murley:
NRC IE BULLETIN NO. 80-20, DATED JULY 31, 1980 FAILURES OF WESTINGHOUSE TYPE W-2 SPRING RETURN TO NEUTRAL CONTROL SWITCHES HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION On December 23, 1980, PSE&G reported to the NRC that the Bechtel Power Corporation, our Architect Engineer, indicated that answers were received from all vendors, except the "O" HVAC vendor, that Westinghouse Type W-2 control switches with spring return to neutral position are not being used or planned or use at the Hope Creek Generating Station.
I Since that time, Bechtel has restated their position due to a survey of_all "O" purchase orders, including those in the NSSS scope-of-supply.
All vendors have confirmed that Westinghouse W-2 control switches.will not be used on "O" equipment supplied to the Hope Creek Generating Station.
This will. conclude our response to the subject bulletin.
