  • Docket No. 50-322

Dear Dr. Murley:

On October 14, 1983, Mr. M. H. Milligan provided verbal notifi-cation to Region I of a material deficiency in TDI Diesel Generator connecting rod bearings.

During my conversation today with Mr. E. B. McCabe, I informed him that LILCO and its consultant, Failure Analysis Associates (FaAA), are investigating this deficiency and an interim report by FaAA is expected to be released on November 3rd. Since a final FaAA report will not be available until the week of November 21st, I requested an extension of our 30 day written notification from November 12th to November 25th. This exten-sion was granted by Mr. McCabe.

Very truly yours,

'Y
