Dear Mr. Keppler:
Reference (a) Action Item 5 requested that the Commonwealth Eoison Company provide, within ninety (90) days of completion of Action Item 3, a written report of inspection results.
We have completed Action Item 3 for Quad Cities Unit 2.
The Unit 2 Diesel Generator Cooling Water Pump (DGCWP) discharge check valve 1-3999-66 was inspected during an outage on October 12, 1983.
Inspection of the valve on disassembly found the disk hinge pin to be missing.
The disk and valve body appeared to be in satisfactory condition.
The hinge pin will be replaced.
The DGCWP will be tested for operability after returning it to service.
