Consumers POW 8f company General offices: 1045 West Parnait Road, Jackson, MI 492** '(517) 788 0550 October 17, 1983 Dennis M Crutchfield, Chief Operating Reactor Branch No 5 Nuclear Reactor Regulation US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 DOCKET 50-255 - LICENSE DPR PALISADES PLANT - REQUEST FOR AN EXTENSION FOR A RESPONSE TO ACTION ITEM 2, IE BULLETIN NO 82-02 NRC IE Bulletin No 82-02 dated June 2, 1982 discussed the degradation of threaded fasteners in the Reactor Coolant Pressure Boundary (RCPB) of Pressurized Water Reactors. During the current refueling outage, many thread-ed fasteners have become subject to the requirements of Action Item 2 of i
the Bulletin. The threaded fastener inspections are being performed in conjunction with the normal component inspections of the ISI program. All data from the inspections which address Action Item 2 of the IE Bulletin 82-02 will be provided to the NRC in the Final ISI report.
IE Bulletin 82-02 Item No 4 specifies submittal of the report within 60 days following the completion of this outage in which Action Item 2 was performed.
Consumers Power Company intends to submit the final ISI report cpproximately 90 days after the completion of the current outage, and therefore requests an extension of 30 days to the submittal requirement of IE Bulletin 82-02 Item No 4.
