MI 49201 * (517) 788-0550 October 3, 1983 Dennis M Crutchfield, Chief Operating Reactor Branch No 5 Nuclear Reactor Regulation US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 DOCKET 50-255 - LICENSE DPR PALISADES PLANT - ENVIRONFENTAL QUALIFICATION OF SAFETY-RELATED ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT - DATE EXTENSION FOR RESPONSE ON 2400-VOLT MOTORS Consumers Power Company committed, in a letter dated May 20, 1983, to respond by October 3, 1983 to the Technical Evaluation Report items 78, 80, 81 and 82 regarding 2400 Volt Motors manufactured by Westinghouse, General Electric and Louis Allis. Consumers Power Company is presently evaluating the available vendors information and we have requested additional information to complete our investigation into the qualification status of these motors. Our evalua-tions will consist of determining the qualified life and possible revision of existing replacement requirements. Based on the extensive nature of the documentation research effort and the thorough evaluation that would have to be conducted, Consumers Power Company expects to submit the results of our evaluations by February 28, 1984.
