Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No.1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 Inservice Inspection Interval Extension Gentlemen:
This letter is to inform the Nuclear Regulatory Commission of our intention to extend the first Ten-Year Inservice Inspection Interval from September 30, 1986 to July of 1988 in accordance with Section XI, subarticle IWA-2400(a) cf the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code 1974 Edition through Summer 1975 Addenda.
Subarticle IWA-2400(a) states:
The examinations and pressure tests required by I'.JB, IWC and IWD shall be completed during each ten-year interval of service, hereinafter designated the inspection interval. These inspection ir.tervals represent calendar years after the reactor facility has been placed into commercial service.
The interval may be extended by as much as one year to permit inspections to be concurrent with plant outages.
For plants that are out of service continuously for one year or more, an inspection interval may be extended for an equivalent period.
The extension of this first inspection interval is based on the following:
a.
An extension of the first 40-month interval for approximately ten months to permit inspections to be concurrent with our first refueling and plant modification outage. This added ten months to the ten-year inspection interval extending the program to July of 1987.
b.
An extension of the ten-year inspection interval for a period equal to the first refueling and plant mod 1 fica-tion outage which lasted from November 30, 1979 to November 20, 1980. During this period, Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. I was continuously out of service to refuel and perform a piping and support verification required by IE Bulletin 79-14. This added approximately 12 months to the ten-year inspection interval extending the program to July of 1988.
