Dear Sir:

This Special Report is' submitted in accordance with LaSalle Unit Operating License NPF;11, Appendix A, Technical Specifications 3.7.6 and 6.6.c.

Insoections of Unit 1 electrical (Gypsum) sealed fire peaetrations were not completed by the critical date of January 19,1984 (due date plus 25 percent) . .

This was due to the new acceptance criteria established during the Unit 2 License Review and imposed-upon Unit 1 electrical firestops during the 18 month survell-lance. Because of the new criteria imposed, it was necessary to inspect 100 percent of the electrical firestoos. Fire watches were established in Unit 1 on December 16, 1983, prior to the start of the inspections, inspections were completed by February 1, 1984, and 49 percent did not meet the new criteria.

Inspections of 100 percent of the mechanical sealed fire penetrations were completed by the critical date. Aonroximately 7 percent did not meet accentance criteria.

Repairs are in progress to make the necessary corrections. Estimated date of completion is May 31, 1984, for electrical firestops and March 31, 1984, for the mechanical firestops. Fire watches are being continued in affected areas per Technical Specification 3.7.6 Action a.
