GENERIC ISSUE MANAGEMENT CONTROL SYSTEM REPORT FOR THE FIRST HALF OF FISCAL YEAR 2020 Enclosed for your information is the Generic Issue Management Control System report for the first half of fiscal year 2020, covering the period from October 2019 through March 2020. The Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research is addressing this report of active generic issues (GIs) to the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) because NRR is implementing the two active GIs. This report is also being provided to the other regulatory offices for information.
The enclosure summarizes the status, activities, and expected final completion dates associated with each of these GIs. The following describes the significant activities that occurred during this reporting period for each of the two active GIs:
GI-199, Implications of Updated Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Estimates in Central and Eastern United States on Existing Plants o
Five licensees submitted their seismic probabilistic risk assessments (SPRAs) to the NRC: Browns Ferry, Cook, Dresden, Robinson, Sequoyah.
o The NRC completed its review of the SPRA for Oconee.
GI-204, Flooding of Nuclear Power Plant Sites Following Upstream Dam Failure o
Six licensees submitted their flooding re-evaluations to the NRC. Four were focused evaluations: Browns Ferry, Perry, Sequoyah, and Watts Bar; two were integrated assessments: Millstone and Surry.
o The NRC completed its review of the focused evaluation for Sequoyah and the integrated assessments for Cooper and Robinson.
