APPLICATION OF GOVERNOR DEUKMEJIAN FOR EXPEDITED HEARING OF MOTION Governor George Deukmejian, who is filing together with this application a Motion for Modification of Hearing Schedule, requests that the board hear this motion on an expedited basis.
The Governor requests that if the board wishes to receive written responses to the motion, the board set an early date for their recept and that the board schedule a telephone conference call as early the week of October 3 as is convenient to the board.
The reason for this request is, of course, the fact that the present schedule, established by the board order of September 7, 1983, calls for the filing of direct testimony on October 8.
Whether the board agrees to modify the present schedule will determine how the parties allocate their time in this next crucial week.
The motion and this application are being filed as expeditiously as possible, given the fact that the full dimensions of the delay in the IDVP schedule and the extent to which discovery matters remain incomplete has just been 1.

The parties were advised orally at a deposition held September 28 that the Governor would be making this motion and requesting expedited hearings of it.
